Web 2.0 Corporate
June 6th, 2008 · Filed Under: Web 2.0 Corporate
It all changed when I was searching online to get ideas on improving my lead genration for my real estate business. I came across a few videos by Gregory on how to get free leads chasing you using Youtube and Myspace marketing. The mass of conspiracy theory and faux research indicates that many people contribute content without regard for facts, accuracy or sometimes even legality. Many serious contributors therefore regard wikis as an unreliable, biased source of information undeserving of attention for any serious purpose. The company uses Web-based Gmail and employees typically maintain huge, searchable email databases. To promote ad hoc networking, each employee has a profile page where they keep information on ongoing projects, Sheth said.
The web is a powerful tool and many companies are realizing that if they don’t utilize their websites effectively, they won’t be able to effectively go the distance. Clearly, there is still a ways to go. We did a better job integrating the site into our brand website this year, and with that (I think) came a lot of people who don’t really get what a blog is. So they ask specific questions. Website such as digg , technorati and del.ici.ous have millions of visitors per day, and its often through such techniques that potential customers comes to a corporate website.
This affords the flexibility needed to do business while keeping protected information safe, behind the corporate firewall. Either they picked some very tech savvy companies or the UK companies I speak with a quite far behind. Nevertheless, it’s one of those papers you can fire to your boss (and his boss) and say “hey, look how far behind we are man “. Criticize ideas, not the people behind them.
Rather, it is their combined efforts — and the potential they represent — that’s of interest. As wiki’s, podcasts, blogs, and no doubt other techno-tools grow and flourish, they represent a new level of activism — one that promises to move beyond the limiting stovepiped agendas of individual environmental, social justice, and corporate accountability groups. The session also will cover the potential of the recently released iPhone software development kit (SDK) to create and deploy applications that can integrate with corporate IT networks. Employers and -more importantly- potential employers are getting good at spying on your profile. Oh and if you think it is safe to simply cleanup your profile before you start job hunting, think again.
Goldman Sachs uses a social-networking program called SelectMinds to track its alumni. Raytheon creates maps showing employees’ relationships to find its most connected people. Could technologies like social networks, blogs, Skype, and IM kill e-mail for businesses as well? Social networking and user-generated content are other by-products of the Web 2.0 movement. It’s hard to think of a consumer Internet service these days that doesn’t enable users to connect with other users and generate their own content, whether it’s a YouTube video or a restaurant review.
