The tool doens’t have to be made with education necessarily in mind, if there are skilled teachers looking for ways to bring content to students in new ways. When someone writes a novel, it isn’t written for classroom use, but there are novels that are useful in illustrating an important theme of literature. Think of other creative ways teachers might “deliver” the audio content to kids. As the course went online, the 3D virtual environment enabled virtual students to share experiences similar to those of the traditional students while learning the same content.

While there is certainly a lot to learn as a student creates a podcast, the end result is a comfortable, known quantity. As a read/write ‘web’ and functional literacy experience the students built a wiki around their hobbies and tried to add to each others writing - we developed a diverse range of expertise and communication of opinions. To set the wiki up I hosted it on my iBook NB4T which meant the wiki was portable. Should instructors “friend” their students on Facebook? How should instructors and students navigate this new way of connecting with each other?

What kind of access do others have in your district . Hopefully, this site will provide materials for decision-makers as they determine policies for their schools and districts that would impact the use of educational blogging or might potentially restrict access to sites that provide blogging services. We encourage anyone to form a group - districts, schools, associations, or even a single department within a school site. On the following pages, you will encounter the tools of the new Internet: Web 2.0 tools that are bringing our kids in touch with the entire world through social networking, video, audio, and gaming sites.

With both the Ning, and the wiki for communication, I believe that one could contact a group member in numerous manners. I believe it was crucial to have both the Ning and the wiki during this project. A teacher is conducting a reading lesson with a group of six students at a large, round table. Other students are working on reading or mathematics assignments, and the materials in front of each child are of different types and from different levels. Participants are actively involved and supported to develop - alone or in small groups - language activities for use in their teaching. There is also an option to develop skills for working with Interactive Whiteboards and design activities that help focus attention, support interactivity and promote connectedness as demonstrated during the course.

It?s actually an idea that the reciprocity between the user and the provider is what?s emphasized. In other words, genuine interactivity if you like, simply because people can upload as well as download.”. Given this inevitable change, it makes more sense to engage in the teaching of practical concepts related to computers and software in general. This site is dedicated to helping you with this “shift” in thinking. Rather than taking a dichotomous approach, it seems more practical to talk about potential educational benefits (and challenges), as well as conditions for successfully reaping those benefits (and minimizing the challenges). Web 2.0 is clearly not going away, so this seems to me like the most constructive perspective in looking toward the future.

Teachers will learn to create and use WebQuests to promote student collaboration and team work. I think the core of curriculum is developing, but it will take a significant amount of time and resources over the new few weeks and months to flesh out and create a useful resource for teachers. We’ve all been creating our own tools and webpages to help us to share knowledge and help other teachers to use Web 2.0 as a classroom device. They allow for the creation of new “modules”, or code pieces, that can be “included” in each template with a simple line of code. The sidebars in the default TypePad templates already use this method, so that all you have to do is change your sidebar and it is changed on every page of your site.
